Ayuba Wabba has been reelected as the President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), following a unanimous decision by delegates at a conference held in Abuja.
Wabba and other members of the executive board, on Wednesday, were given another mandate unopposed.
The mandate will last for another four years: 2019 - 2023.
Those returned are: Amaechi Asuguni, first deputy president; Muhammed Idris, second deputy president, and Najim Yasim, third deputy president, among others.
In his acceptance speech, Wabba said the NLC leadership would intensify its efforts to ensure the rights and interests of workers were protected.
He said: “The board will respect the will of members and consolidate what we are doing. We will continue to conform to the tradition of the union and speak the truth to those in power.
"The daily challenges of workers at workplaces will be confronted. We have been able to work assiduously in the past four years and I assure our members of our commitment and dedication to the resolutions of the conference."
