The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Command, confiscated over 37 tons of illicit drugs between January and November, 2016.
The State Commandant, Alhaji Hamza Umar, disclosed this during a news conference in Kano.
Umar said that the drugs include three tons of cannabis sativa and over 34 tons of psychotropic substances.
He said that the agency also arrested 755 suspected drug traffickers that included six females during the period.
The commandant also said that the agency secured the conviction of 299 suspects which included three females.
“The command was also able to counsel and rehabilitate 534 males and eight females with the aim of making them useful to the society,” he said.
The NDLEA boss attributed the successes recorded by the command to the cooperation from the residents of the state and the support of the State Government.
He urged the public to always report any suspicious movements to the authorities concerned to enable them rid the society of criminal activities.
