Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, the Ondo State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC),  on Monday, boasted that his party will win the governorship election slated for 26 November and constitute the next government in the state after dislodging the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Mr. Akeredolu made the statement while speaking to journalists at the APC Secretariat in Akure, the state capital.

"We can assure the people of Ondo State that the All Progressives Congress will form the next government in this state," he said.

He claimed that his emergence as the party's candidate as ordained by God, saying that he was neither the choice of the party's national leadership nor sponsored by any interest.

"I was not chosen, but I won the primary election because of my covenant with God. So, na God win the election," he explained. 

The APC governorship candidate vowed to fulfil his covenant with the people of the state by ensuring he pays attention to their well-being if elected.

He also assured that the raging crisis rocking the party his on account of his emergence as a candidate will soon blow over.

"Whatever distraction we have now, I assure them, we can overcome, and we will get to the promised land.

"We will talk to everybody in this state on the need for us to have a change of government. Our own major concern is about the people of Ondo State" he emphasised.

Mr. Akeredolu added that the party's national leadership has initiated moves to resolve the crisis rocking the state chapter of the party.

He also denied the existence of friction between him and national leader of the party,   Mr. Bola Tinubu, saying his major concern is how to work with supporters to win the poll.

A chieftain of the party, Omoba Abayomi Adesanya, said the PDP should be prepared to vacate the Alagbaka Government House next  February.

Mr. Adesanya said Mr. Akeredolu, who was also the party's gubernatorial candidate in 2012, would win the forthcoming governorship election in convincing fashion. Rotimi Akeredolu kicks off campaign for governor in Ondo state
