The Minister of Interior, Lieutenant Gen Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau (retd), has assured the people of Borno State that quick restoration of destroyed communities by insurgents in the North East is a top priority for the Federal Government (FG).
The Minister, who was accompanied by the IGP, the Comptroller NIS, the Comptroller of Prison Service, and the Chairman of the Committee on Interior, Adam Jagaba, stated this while visiting the Maiduguri Government House on Wednesday.
Mr. Dambazau explained that the visit to Maiduguri was intended to allow him to see the three front-line States devastated by activities of Boko Haram terrorists to provide him with an opportunity to assess the issues on the ground.
"I would like to applaud the efforts by the military to degrading and weaken the insurgents in the North East. We have been informed by the police and others that we should work with the military after the liberation of communities.
“Therefore, the purpose of our visit to the three front lines States is to get an assessment of the situation and explore ways in which we can move forward. I can assure you that we will work with you to restore the North East region," General Dambazau stated.
He praised the efforts of the Borno State government for the assistance they provided to the security agencies within the State as well as for his developmental projects.
In his remarks, Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima thanked the Interior Minister and his entourage and urged him to deploy his experience as General to stabilize the North East.
Governor Shettima also urged northern Governors to work together in order to create jobs for the legions of unemployed youth in the region.
