As reactions continues to trail Nigeria’s Presidential and National Assembly elections, Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Prof Bem Angwe, has congratulated President Goodluck Jonathan for ensuring the conduct of a free, fair and credible elections in the country.

This is as he hailed the Nigerian electorates for their peaceful conducts during the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections.

In a statement on Thursday in Abuja and signed by Fatima Angwai Mohammed the Chief Press Officer in the Commission the Executive Secretary stated that “the election represents a victory for democracy and the right of the people of Nigeria to determine who rules them. The Nigerian people showed a determination to exercise their democratic right despite several logistical challenges.

Angwe also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting a credible election despite the challenges encountered.

His words “As INEC prepares to conduct the April 11 Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections, the Commission calls on INEC to take adequate steps to rectify the several logistical challenges that were encountered during the elections. The use of PVCs and card readers will need to be implemented in a more effective manner to ensure credible state level elections on April 11.
